FLOWER GARDEN SHED

All of the materials here are natural, comfortably at home in this seacoast garden. The wide trim boards and door are red cedar, the shakes on the roof and wall too. The glass panes are antique, seeded. A humble yet well-considered gardener’s shed.

This is another of small, highly crafted projects. We have reworked this house, a bit at a time, over the span of approximately 20 years. Each element added was considered carefully in relation to what the whole would become.

I started here with what was a small commission, replacing a plywood garden shed with an 8' x 10' shingle-and-cedar shed, detailed with elements familiar from Sconset cottages, designed as a focal pavilion in this cottage garden.
